Welcome to my website! My name is Ara Patvakanian (Արա Պատվականյան). I am passionate about bringing theoretical and empirical tools to bear on studying various problems of economic, social, and political consequence. I am a senior research associate in the Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics group at the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. I hold a degree in Mathematical Economics and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and was a visiting graduate student at Harvard University. For more on my background, see this article published by Penn.
In my free time, I enjoy playing music, learning languages, and reading literature. My favorite novel is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
All expressed views are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston or the Federal Reserve System.
